Introducing the President of the General Assembly

Here are a few words from the President of the General Assembly.
Over the past year I have spent the committee meetings relaxing at the back of the room, watching everyone else stress about setting up MyHabsMUN, organising committee rooms and responding to the thousands of emails that seem to hit the HabsMUN inbox every day. Oh wait… this is meant to be a blog post about how busy I have been in the lead up to the conference, let’s ignore that first bit then.
As the Head of Ceremonies, my role is to organise the biggest and most exciting parts of the conference (in my humble opinion). I have been busy scheduling the events, contacting our amazing guest speakers, ordering decorations and stage effects, and overall ensuring everything runs smoothly. The opening ceremony sets the tone for the whole weekend, whilst the closing ceremony is the last thing people will remember, so I have to create a truly breathtaking experience. I hope all my hard work pays off and you enjoy them!
And we cannot forget the most coveted competition of the MUN calendar: the HabsMUN Inter-Committee Karaoke. For our 2nd ever annual karaoke event, I have been busy planning a competition that is even bigger and better than last year’s! You’ll have to wait and see what it is truly like, but it definitely brings a more light-hearted break to the intense and fruitful debate we have here at HabsMUN. There are a couple of surprises I am looking forward to the most: we have a very special (and famous!) guest judge and a very dapper outfit for our host.
As the President of the General Assembly, it is my responsibility to make sure the largest committee at the conference runs smoothly. I have been busy organising the decorations and set up for the venues, as well as creating the chairing rotas and resolution booklets. I hope to see many of you give speeches on Sunday to stand up for the resolutions that your committees worked so hard to produce, or to try and improve the resolutions of other committees.
With the ceremonies, karaoke and general assembly all coming together over the next week, I’m really looking forward seeing the culmination of all of our hard work for the best HabsMUN conference yet!
